Translate

I've not been working on my extension recently due to Internet connection problems. Namely, ADSL migration from one ISP to another, which left me with no connection. Then further disappointment, being determined to ditch ADSL, I asked NTL if they could provide me with a connection but they didn't bother to turn up to do the install. Anyway, I've learned something, stay well clear of Virgin.Net.

Counting bodies like sheep to the rhythm of the war drums,

Is the first single from A Perfect Circle's new album, eMOTIVe.
It's a remix of Pet from Thirteenth Step, but it's an excellent remix and a fantastic video. I can't wait to hear the rest of the album.

Thoughts on Sunbird

I've downloaded the 0.2 version of Sunbird and I think it's looking very promising. The calendar feature is the only feature that is currently forcing me to use Outlook. Unfortunately, Outlook is the standard in my working environment, with the meeting request feature being used extensively. Now, if the Sunbird developers can add in some compatibility with Exchange, then I'll be free of another MS product!

GMail account up for grabs

I've got a Gmail invitation to give away, I can't think of what to do with it, so I'll give it to the first person that sends me an email.

A bit of a bargain

I was intent on getting an FX5900 after playing Doom 3 at 11fps. I had intially order one from Dabs at a total of £105, and it was an XT version. It would have be sufficient for my needs, but Dabs were awaiting stock.
Today, I popped down to Pcworld, saw a FX5900, I asked how much it was and I was told £89.99. Whether it was an offer or a mistake, I wasn't hanging round long enough for them to change their minds. So, for the first time ever, I've managed to get a bargain from Pcworld!
I'm getting a sweet 40fps now :-)

I need a new graphics card

I've run Doom 3's timedemo and I'm only getting 11.5 fps!!! :-(
I've been noticing some gamers are achieving 40+ fps with their systems. I know my Geforce 4MX is slow but should it be 4x slower than a 9600XT? Anyway, if anyone feels they want to donate a graphics card ..... ;-)

Where is the Romanian Firefox ?

I've noticed that there is no localised version of Firefox available. It seems that there was a project started, but never finished.

I'm thinking that my wife and I could either help or do some of it ourselves, but before offering our services, I'll need to estimate the amount of work required. I'd imagine it'd probably be considerable and I certainly don't want to start something that I can't finish.

Doom 3 is scary!

I've got my hands on Doom 3. 10 days in advance of its official release here in the UK. I couldn't wait that long, and I've also pre-ordered the game from Amazon.

The frame rate wasn't as bad as I had expected, it's certainly playable on my poor GeForce 4MX; I'd guess I'm getting below 20 fps. And that was on the lowest detail setting too. There's a very dark and claustrophobic feel to the game, and a scariness that was reminiscent of an old Aliens (UK version) game on the Commodore 64.

Anyway, I think Doom 3 is probably going to serve as a good excuse to upgrade my graphics card.

Translate 0.5.5

In my rush to release 0.5.4 it seems that I've included a display problem with the 16x16 icons (thanks Asa). I'll fix this once I get home from work later tonight.
